QCD String as Vortex String in Seiberg-Dual Theory
We construct a classical vortex string solution in a Seiberg-dual theory of N = 1 supersymmetric SO(Nc) QCD which flows to a confining phase. We claim that this vortex string is a QCD string, as previouly argued by M. Strassler. In SO(Nc) QCD, it is known that stable QCD strings exist even in the presence of dynamical quarks. We show that our vortex strings are stable in the Seiberg-dual theory.
متن کاملDEVELOPMENT IN STRING THEORY
The string theory is a fast moving subject, both physics wise and in the respect of mathematics. In order to keep up with the discipline it is important to move with new ideas which are being stressed. Here I wish to give extracts from new papers of ideas which I have recently found interesting. There are six papers which are involved: I ."Strings formulated directly in 4 dimensions " A. N...
متن کاملDissecting the string theory dual of QCD
Input from QCD and string theory is used in order to elucidate basic features of the string theory dual of QCD, It is argued that the relevant string theory is a five-dimensional version of the type-0 superstring. The vacuum solution is asymptotically AdS5, and the geometry near the boundary is stringy. The structure of YM perturbation theory however emerges near the boundary. In the IR, the th...
متن کاملQcd and String Theory
This talk begins with some history and basic facts about string theory and its connections with strong interactions. Comparisons of stacks of Dirichlet branes with curved backgrounds produced by them are used to motivate the AdS/CFT correspondence between superconformal gauge theory and string theory on a product of Anti-de Sitter space and a compact manifold. The ensuing duality between semi-c...
متن کاملTwo Dimensional Qcd as a String Theory
I explore the possibility of finding an equivalent string representation of two dimensional QCD. I develop the large N expansion of the QCD2 partition function on an arbitrary two dimensional Euclidean manifold. If this is related to a two-dimensional string theory then many of the coefficients of the 1 N expansion must vanish. This is shown to be true to all orders, giving strong evidence for ...
